5 LEDs an 12V mit Atmega

Ich will 5 transparente rote LEDs in Serie schalten, und diese sollten per Atmega/74HC595 angesteuert werden.
Kann man dies so machen, wie bei der Schaltung im Anhang ?

Der digital-Teil würde dann mit 5V versorgt werden.

Was müsste für ein Widerstand bei R? rein ?
Eine rote LED braucht 1,6V, kann ich da 1,6 mal 5 rechnen, als 8V ?
Mit einem LED-Rechner würde ich dann auf 220 Ohm kommen.
Bin ich da richtig ?

Das Ganze sollte eine Art übergrosse Eieruhr geben.

Die Anzeige sollte aus 4 Ziffern bestehen. Zuerst dachte ich an Multiplex, aber ich denke, mit 4 Schieberegistern bin ich besser bedient, da man mit Multiplex doch einen Helligkeitssteuerung hat.

Wenn Du keine Angst vor SMD hast kannst Du auch für den Zweck einen MOSFET z.B. IRLML2502 verwenden. Man muss sich dann fast keine Gedanken über max. Strom machen.
Leichter zu löten ist der IRLU 024N aber mit 17A auch etwas überdimensioniert.
Ich verwende für solche Sachen fast nur noch MOSFETs.
